- 1 small onion diced
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 1 fennel bulb sliced (optional)
- 1 red bell pepper diced
- 1 cup diced tomatoes canned or fresh
- 1 cup tomato sauce or crushed tomatoes
- 1 cup seafood or vegetable broth
- 1 cup dry white wine optional
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp red pepper flakes optional
- 1 lb white fish cod, halibut, or similar, cut into chunks
- ½ lb shrimp peeled and deveined
- ½ lb mussels cleaned
- ½ lb clams cleaned
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley chopped
- Lemon wedges for serving
Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
Add onion, fennel, red pepper, and garlic; sauté until softened.
Stir in diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, broth, and white wine.
Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes.
Bring to a simmer and cook for 10-15 minutes to develop flavor.
Add the fish and shrimp; simmer gently for 5 minutes.
Add mussels and clams; cover and cook until shells open (5-7 minutes).
Discard any unopened shells.
Stir in fresh parsley.
Serve hot with lemon wedges or crusty bread.
